22, 23, 24, 25 May 2024 | Accademia di Musica, Pinerolo (To)
Deadline: 21/4/2024
The Accademia di Musica inaugurates its second masterclass aimed at perfecting the technical and interpretative aspects of the opera repertoire, through lessons and activities aimed at touching on all aspects of the singer-actor. The teachers of this new training proposal are the famous Italian tenor Marcelo Àlvarez and Laura Cosso, musicologist and director, teacher at the Milan Conservatory. The masterclass The Italian singing school: from technique to interpretation will be held from 22 to 25 May 2024 at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo (To) and involves a daily study commitment.
Narrates Àlvarez, “We will address the basic concepts of the Italian bel canto tradition from a practical empirical point of view. We will begin by examining the importance of the relationship between natural breathing and support. We will work on the following fundamental aspects: position, intonation in legato singing without portamento, support on vowels and correct use of consonants. We will analyze the proprioceptive sensations of the different registers: low, middle and high. We will study diction and expression in each score that will lead us to understand the phrasing and style of each author. Finally, we will discuss the singer’s cues and motivations, as well as issues of vocal hygiene.”
