At the Accademia the teaching programme is always centred around the students and an individual study pathway is created for them with the aim of fostering their personal development as a musician, a pathway that combines individual teaching with performance opportunities. Talented students are also supported by competition prizes, scholarships, and by opportunities to take part in national and international projects. The Special Projects were created precisely with the aim of completing and enhancing our teaching programme, supplementing our advanced music courses and masterclasses with international experiences rich in learning opportunities.
The first Special Project activated by the Accademia was the International Chamber Music Competition Città di Pinerolo e Torino Città metropolitana, which since 1994 has been recognised internationally as one of the important competitions for chamber music ensembles.
From 1995 onwards, the Musica d’Estate summer music camp has given students the opportunity to be taught by internationally famous musicians in a 15-day residential course, offering masterclasses in piano, violin, cello, chamber music and guitar. Students in the courses also perform in public as the camp organises thirty concerts for the people of Bardonecchia.
A point of pride for the Accademia is our Professione Orchestra project, a programme designed to give students practical training in the skills of an orchestra professional, which has been developed in partnership with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale of the RAI national broadcasting network.
The Accademia also has a Accademia di Musica Chamber orchestra which further enriches our study programmes since it gives students the necessary experience of playing together with other musicians.
In response to a request for general music education expressed by the people of the Pinerolo area, the Accademia has set up a number of activities: concert/lessons in schools, a Choir, and our recent partnership with the Istituto Civico Corelli music school.
Truly innovative is the project of CAdMO – Computer Aided Digital Music Orchestra a kind of instrument intended for the soloist to replace the live orchestra.
