The call for applications for the 10th edition of Professione Orchestra – Orchestra professionals has been published. This training programme for young musicians under 30, dedicated to professional development in orchestral music, is the result of a partnership between the Fondazione Accademia di Musica and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, one of Europe’s leading orchestras.
10 YEARS OF THE PROFESSIONE ORCHESTRA – ORCHESTRA PROFESSIONALS PROJECT
Ten years of activity illustrate the growth of a project which, over time, has established itself as one of the leading advanced training programmes in Italy for musicians under 33 aiming for a career in an orchestra. The interest it has generated is confirmed by the 654 candidates who have applied since 2017, hailing from 20 countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas, testifying to the project’s growing international appeal. Thirty-one principal players from the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, representing 16 different instruments, have led the 96 training workshops, often repeating the experience over several years, which speaks to the value of the programme from the tutors’ perspective as well. The project’s crowning achievement has been its support for young talent: 88 scholarships have enabled as many students to undertake a further year of training with the principal players and to perform alongside them in 308 RAI productions, as well as in the 18 final concerts at the Auditorium in Turin and Pinerolo.
A wealth of experience, expertise and connections which, over the course of a decade, has trained hundreds of young musicians and given a voice to an international community of musicians united by the goal of joining the finest orchestras.
2026/27 PROFESSIONE ORCHESTRA: THE CALL
The 2026/27 edition of Professione Orchestra is launching its workshops for violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion and harp.
The 2026/27 workshops in violin, viola, cello, double bas, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion, harp are taught by the section leaders of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI: Alberto Barletta, Enrico Maria Baroni, Gabriele Bartezzati, Margherita Bassani, Marco Braito, Diego Di Mario, Matteo Flori, Luca Magariello, Matteo Magli, Francesco Mattioli, Alessandro Milani, Luca Milani, Nicola Patrussi, Alessandro Maria Pogliani, Francesco Platoni, Emiliano Rossi, Alexander Grandal Hansen Schwartz, Gregorio Tuninetti, Ulijona Ula Zebriunaite, Biagio Zoli.
The optional additional lessons will be taught by Salvatore Passalacqua for bass clarinet, by Lorenzo Russo for piccolo, and by Fiorella Andriani for octave clarinet.
