Epifanio Comis
Biography

Pianist and conductor, Epifanio Comis is a prominent figure in the contemporary music scene. He has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues: as a pianist, among others, at Carnegie Hall in New York, Symphony Hall in Osaka, Roman Athenée in Bucharest, Symphony Hall in Kyoto, Kachaturian Hall in Yerevan, and the Opera House in Dubai; as a conductor, he has led orchestras at the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Vienna, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall, Kachaturian Hall in Yerevan, and numerous other institutions. Comis is also the founder and musical director of the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in Catania, and he served as director of the Conservatory itself from 2019 to 2025.

His masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Manhattan School of Music, the P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the École Normale de Paris, and leading academic institutions across Europe, the United States, and China, reflect his commitment to sharing his expertise and promoting musical excellence. His students have achieved remarkable success, winning some of the most esteemed international piano competitions, including the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano, the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Franz Liszt Competition in Budapest, the Deutsche Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn, the Top of the World Competition in Tromsø, the Geneva Competition, and the Sigismund Thalberg International Piano Competition. These achievements highlight the effectiveness of his pedagogical approach and the quality of training he provides. Many of his students have gone on to pursue successful careers, becoming prominent musicians in their own right and continuing the legacy of his teaching.

Comis is also the artistic director of the Ljubljana Festival International Piano Competition, one of Europe’s most significant piano competitions.
