Choose one of the 16 residential masterclasses offered by the Musica d’Estate International Summer Music Festival from July 16 to 30, 2026, in Bardonecchia, at the heart of the mountains encircling Turin. Everything else can wait!
IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
The advanced masterclasses of the Musica d’Estate International Summer Music Festival, to be held from July 16 to 30, 2026, in Bardonecchia, will become even more immersive thanks to the new residential format. You will be living at an altitude of 1300 metres, surrounded by forests, light, and silence, enjoying the refreshing cool temperatures and the magnificent mountain scenery, always an immense source of inspiration …
… Masterclass attenders will be able to:
- attend masterclasses taught by internationally renowned teachers
- attend other students’ lessons as auditors
- attend in-depth talks
- use individual study rooms to consolidate newly acquired music knowledge or to practise for concerts
- perform (subject to approval by teachers) at public concerts in Bardonecchia, which are always very popular with the city residents. So the technical training received during the masterclasses will be completed by the indispensable experience of appearing on stage
- attend concerts given by fellow students and award-winning young musicians already established in their careers
- live in a hostel, sharing rooms, kitchen, and activities with other young musicians, thus creating a small, temporary community dedicated to study, exchanging ideas, rehearsing, listening, and discussion, even outside the classroom, in a non-competitive atmosphere of friendship that can only arise from a great shared passion.
This year, for the first time, the masterclasses are organized into four residential periods: Thursday, July 16 – Sunday, July 19; Monday, July 20 – Wednesday, July 22; Thursday, July 23 – Sunday, July 26; Monday, July 27 – Thursday, July 30, 2026 (see full calendar).
THE 16 ADVANCED RESIDENTIAL MASTERCLASSES
The 16 residential masterclasses scheduled for 2026 will be held by these internationally renowned teachers: Roberto Plano, Enrico Pace, Benedetto Lupo, Pietro De Maria, Gabriele Carcano, Claudio Voghera, Epifanio Comis, Hubert Rutkowski, Christiane Karajeva (piano), Sonig Tchakerian, Ivan Rabaglia, Guido Rimonda, Piergiorgio Rosso (violin), Simone Briatore (viola), Enrico Bronzi (cello), Trio Debussy (chamber music).

LESSONS AND STUDY ROOMS
Lessons for the masterclasses are held mainly at the Palazzo delle Feste, which also houses the festival office during the festival. Some lessons are scheduled at the Sala San Francesco dell’Ostello. Students can also attend other lessons as auditors and book a room for individual study from those available at the Palazzo delle Feste and the Bardonecchia middle schools.
RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION IN THE HOSTEL
Masterclass students will stay at the Ostello San Francesco in Bardonecchia, a hostel facility renovated in 2023, which has three dormitory rooms with bunk beds, a professional kitchen, and a multipurpose room you can use for eating and free time activities. The hostel’s large garden is private and enclosed. The hostel is about 600 metres from the Palazzo delle Feste (the location of the Festival office and masterclass lessons) and 800 metres from the town centre. The absolute tranquility of the hostel guarantees you a peaceful holiday in direct contact with nature. There is an on-site restaurant, which you can book independently at a cost of €15 per meal (to be confirmed), but this service is not included in the masterclass tuition fee.
TALKS
A series of interviews will be conducted in the evenings, in the foyer of the Sala Viglione at the Palazzo delle Feste, with Gianmarco Moneti interviewing and presenting. The interviewees will be four internationally famous musicians, who are teachers of the advanced music masterclasses held in Bardonecchia, as well as teaching courses at the Accademia in Pinerolo that are enthusiastically followed by students. A Q&A session with questions from the audience will follow every interview.

CONCERTS
All students (with prior approval from their teacher), will have the opportunity to perform in public at the concerts organized at the Maria Ausiliatrice church. This experience is the natural completion of the masterclass journey, which begins with personal study, continues through the interaction with the teacher, and culminates in a real-life test in front of an attentive, engaged audience. This performance enables students to verify their technical ability and maturity as an artist, while also training them to relate to the audience and to manage their emotions, skills that are crucial for anyone wishing to make music their profession. The programme will be posted daily on site, on the Council notice boards around Bardonecchia.
The Musica d’Estate festival includes 14 other concerts, which masterclass students can attend together with the audience. Eleven of these will be held at the San Ippolito church, during the week, at 4 p.m. Performing in the concerts will be students from the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo who are already pursuing concert careers and have won competitions. A major new feature is the 3 evening concerts at the Sala Giolitti in the Palazzo delle Feste at 9 p.m., featuring students playing with their teachers, who are internationally renowned artists.

THE MUSICA D’ESTATE EXPERIENCE
We decided to ask the students who have attended the masterclasses in past years to give their own first person impressions of the summer camp. Every year around 130 young musicians study with us and perform in the free public concerts staged in the open air, in this magnificent mountain setting.

Laura Richaud is the artistic director of the 31st International Summer Music Festival ‘Musica d’Estate’. Claudio Voghera is the coordinator of studies.
