The advanced course in cello taught by Patrick Demenga is intended to help students extend their knowledge of the repertoire of their instrument, thus giving them a solid basis on which to build a professional career, as teachers or performers.
The annual study pathway includes the study of repertoire for:
- solo performance;
- chamber music;
- orchestra performance, including orchestra excerpts.
Students have the right to two lessons per month, with their teacher and the collaborative pianist Alessandro Mosca, from October/November to May/June for a total number of 16 lessons. The teacher and the student will together decide on the repertoire for the course, the student’s participation in competitions and concerts, and the scheduling of their Accademia exams.
To apply for admission candidates must be no older than 30, in possession of a Conservatorio Diploma (old system), a Level 1 or Level 2 degree or equivalent qualification from a country other than Italy. The commission reserves the right to accept any student who shows exceptional talent, even though they do not meet the above-mentioned requirements.
Applications for the Academic Year 2024/25 must reach our offices by 26 September 2024. With the same requirements, the date of submission of the application is considered for choosing the students. Any applications sent after the deadline will be evaluated by the Directors of Studies.
IMPORTANT!
Candidates may express a preference regarding the Accademia teacher they would like to study with. On your enrolment form you must give at least two names of the teachers in order of preference. ATTENTION: the order of preference must be indicated in the registration form at the bottom of the page, in the “Eligibility Requirements”.
After the student has passed the entrance exam, the Directors of Studies (consisting of all the Accademia’s strings teachers) will decide on the most effective study pathway for the individual student, including the specific organization of the lessons in the Accademia.
The admission exams will take place in presence; dates will be defined at the beginning of October. The entrance exam will consist of the performance of a programme that includes:
- A composition by J. S. Bach
- A Classical Sonata or Concerto
- a Romantic or Modern piece
