Giacomo Corbetta
Biography

Giacomo Corbetta, born in Milan on 3 March 2005, began studying the piano at the age of six, immediately showing a marked musicality and particular sensitivity. At the age of ten he began studying under the guidance of M° Vincenzo Balzani and Prof. Catia Iglesias, achieving significant results within a few months and, in the following years, developing a repertoire of great expressive and technical difficulty.

While continuing to study with M° Vincenzo Balzani, since the academic year 2024–25 he has been enrolled at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan under the guidance of Professor Silvia Rumi.

He has distinguished himself in several national and international competitions, including: first absolute prize at the National Competition “Claudio Abbado”, first absolute prize at the Caraglio International Piano Competition, first absolute prize at the International Competition of Albenga, first absolute prize at the Stradella International Piano Competition, first absolute prize at the International Piano Competition “Oleggio City”, third prize in Brussels at the César Franck Competition, first absolute prize at the national competition “Villa Oliva”, first absolute prize at the “Tadini International Piano Competition”, first prize in his category and the Super Prize in the Young section at the “Concorso Internazionale Piano Talents” in Milan, first prize at the Orbetello International Piano Competition, first prize at the International Piano Competition of Arona, first prize at the “Roma International Piano Competition”.

He has performed with orchestra since an early age, making his debut at the Palazzina Liberty in Milan with Mozart’s Piano Concerto K 37 with the “M. Jora” Orchestra conducted by Ovidiu Balan. At the same venue, in the same year, he performed the first movement of Beethoven’s Concerto op. 15 with the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi conducted by M° Lorenzo Passerini, later performing it in its complete version at the Auditorium in Morbegno in 2020.

Since 2015 he has attended annually the Campus Lovere organized by the Pianofriends association, participating in masterclasses with Vincenzo Balzani, Philippe Raskin, Yuri Bogdanov, Vsevolod Dvorkin and Giuseppe Andaloro.

He was selected for the masterclass held in Camerino in August 2021, 2022 and 2023 at the Accademia della Musica di Camerino, founded by Andrea Bocelli. On that occasion he performed both chamber music and solo repertoire.

In the summer of 2023 he attended masterclasses with Riccardo Risaliti and Boris Petrushansky at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola and, in August 2023, participated in the masterclass with Vincenzo Balzani and Nataliya Trull in Split (Croatia), where he also had the opportunity to perform at the Hrvatski dom (Split).

He has been invited to perform numerous recitals in important venues such as: Palazzo Cavagnis (Venice), Festival delle Nazioni in Rome (Tempietto – Teatro Marcello), “Festival della Gioventù”, G. Mahler Cultural Centre in Dobbiaco, Monferrato Classic Festival, Eutherpe Hall in León (Spain), Teatro Castagnoli in Scansano.

He performs regularly in duo with violinist Leonardo Moretti.

He has performed in Italy and abroad, including Salzburg, Windsor, St Petersburg, León, at International Exhibitions for Kawai Italia, for the Amici del Loggione della Scala, at the art gallery “Cascina Roma” in San Donato Milanese, and for the Festival Bottega dei Suoni in Vigevano.

During the global pandemic he took part in projects organized by Pianofriends, including “Chopin si racconta”, “Romanzo familiare di un genio universale” and “Vicini ma distanti”, curated by Vincenzo Balzani.

He is regularly invited by the Società dei Concerti di Milano, with which he performed in 2022 and 2024 at Mare Urbano, in 2023 at the Auditorium Lattuada and in 2025 at the Teatro Rosetum.

He has been a student of the Fondazione Accademia di Musica since 2026.
