A Light Course in piano taught by Pietro De Maria is a short course scheduled during the academic year and it consists of 8 lessons of 1 hours divided into 4 teaching sessions distributed over the year between November and May. Dates of lessons for this Academic Year are:
- November 2024: 9-10 (11)
- December 2024: 17-18 (19)
- February 2025: 18-19 (20)
- May 2025: 25-26 (27)
The course is dedicated to pianists who wish to improve their skills: the main objectives of the course are the extension of the repertoire and the preparation for major international competitions.
The course is dedicated to pianists, both graduates and not. Age limit: to apply for admission candidates must be no older than 30. The course is open to students enrolled in the Accademia as well as to external students. Students attending annual academic courses may also enroll in the Light Course.
Applications for the Academic Year 2024/25 must reach our offices by 26 September 2024. With the same requirements, the date of submission of the application is considered for choosing the students. Any applications sent after the deadline will be evaluated by the Directors of Studies.
Entrance exams for Academic Year 2024/25 will be held on October/November 2024.
The selection takes place in two phases:
- together with their application form, candidates must send a CV and an audio / video file with free program, made no earlier than 2023. The Artistic Director and M° De Maria will assess the materials submitted and will make a list of candidates, who will be called for an audition at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo.
- entrance exam by invitation of the artistic director of the Academy. Admission exam program: three compositions for piano of different styles, including a movement of Classical Sonata.
Candidates who are not admitted to the Light Course, will be given the opportunity (at the discretion of M° De Maria and the Artistic Director) to attend one (or more) masterclass held by M° De Maria during the Academic year.

*PAYMENTS
The enrolment fee must be paid annually. It is non-refundable. The receipt proving that payment has been effected must be attached to your application to enrol. In case a student wants to attend more than one advanced course, the enrolment fee is to be paid only once in a year.
The tuition fee annual attendance fee is to be paid only after passing the entrance exam, according to the instructions that will be sent by the secretary’s office.
