Viola Sommariva
Biography

Viola Sommariva, born in 2004, began attending courses at the Suzuki School of Pavia at the age of 4, with Marcello Rosa as her cello teacher. From the age of 11 to 14 she studied with Marco Decimo and at 14 she was admitted to the Three Year Academic Course of the Turin Conservatory in the prof’s class. Dario Destefano.

She obtained her scientific high school diploma in 2023 and on October 6th she will take the final exam for her three-year academic degree (bachelor).

She was admitted to the two-year course (master) of Turin Conservatory for the academic year 2023/24.

She played in the Musici Estensi orchestra of Varese for several years, with concerts at the Fraschini Theater in Pavia, at the Teatro Valle in Rome, in the Church of the Pietà in Venice, in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and in New York.

She was part of the Futuro Orchestra, the leading orchestra of the Lombardy Youth Orchestra System, directed by Alessandro Cadario, participating in the production of Dvorak’s Symphony from the New World and the Carnival of the Animals of Saint Saens (with the sisters Katia and Marielle Labeque and conducted by Kristina Poska), both productions on the bill in the Season of ‘I Pomeriggi Musicali’ at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan. In 2017, again with Futuro Orchestra, she participated in the concert on the bill of the “Società del Quartetto” in the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory, with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. In the summer of 2023 she played, with the Orchestra Talenti Musicali of Biella, at the Ancient Theater of Taormina and at the Greek Theater of Tindari.

She was first classified, both in 2018 and 2019, at the X Concorso Nazionale of Civica scuola di musica Claudio Abbado of Milan, and she was also classified at the XXIV Concorso Città di Giussano in 2018.
