Christina Katidou was born in Thessaloniki. She entered with scholarship at the State
Conservatory of Thessaloniki where she received her Diploma in Piano (2nd prize), Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue and Orchestration receiving outstanding grades and got awarded for her excellent performance. She has also studied flute for several years. She has attended numerous seminars of piano in Greece and abroad with prominent artists such as Bernand Ringeissen, Nikolai Petrov, George Hadjinikos, Rudolf Meister, Domna Evnouhidou, Florent Boffard, Emanuele Arciuli etc., chamber music with Spyros Mourikis, Dissonart ensemble, UMS ’n’ JIP, Musikfabrik, Airborne Extended ensemble, composition with Michalis Travlos, David Blake, Gordon Williamson, Johannes Schöllhorn. During the year 2021-2022 she has completed the Advanced Course in Contemporary Music for Piano taught by E. Arciuli. She has appeared in solo recitals and chamber music concerts in cities of Greece and in Cyprus and she has performed with the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki. She has won awards in piano competitions, such as the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and the competition held by the Union of Conservatories’ Alumni. Christina Katidou is mainly interested in contemporary music and has performed in several piano solo recitals and chamber music concerts of contemporary repertory. She is also member of the Chamber Orchestra ContraTempo that explores the Chamber Orchestra repertoire, drawing mainly from 19th century and on and highlighting the work of Greek contemporary composers.
She is working as a musician (teacher, correpetitor/accompanist etc.) for several years and currently studies Music Composition at the Music Department of the School of Fine arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) from where she is due to graduate the upcoming September (September 2023). She is also a graduate of the Department of Biology of the AUTH and holds a Master of Science in the fields of Genetic Engineering of the same Department.
