Laura Claycomb
Biography

Holding two degrees in Languages and Vocal Performance, the Texan lyric-coloratura soprano Laura Claycomb is a regular guest at the major opera houses and important festivals in over 60 operatic roles over the past 30 years. She has developed close relationships with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (Tilson-Thomas), the London Symphony Orchestra (A. Davis, Hickox, Gerghiev), Los Angeles Philharmonic (Salonen, Bringuier, Haïm, Frühbeck de Burgos), Cleveland Orchestra (Boulez, Welser-Möst, Pintscher) and Le Concert D’Astrée (Haïm); with the operas of Paris, Houston, San Francisco, Moscow (Bolshoi), Los Angeles, Tel Aviv and Brussels (Théâtre de la Monnaie) and with well known concert houses all over the world, from New York’s Carnegie Hall  to the Wiener Musikverein.


She has lived in Italy for over 20 years, where she has sung at Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and with l’Orchestra della RAI, among many others.  Keenly invested in passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of opera singers, she has been a consultant and teacher for the Bolshoi Young Artist Program since its inception, and presently collaborates with the Academy of Belcanto in Martina Franca (Puglia) in addition to being invited to hold masterclasses and singing lessons for more than 20 years all over the world.


Laura Claycomb boasts a discography of more than 20 recordings, from Baroque to Belcanto, and from Romanticism to the Contemporary;  among her many awards, most notable are her 3 Grammy Awards, the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition and the Callas Prize.
