Giovanni Doria Miglietta began studying piano at the age of 3 under the guidance of his father, a multi-instrumentalist, and later in Genoa with Lidia Baldecchi Arcuri.
After graduating from high school, he studied at the Academy of Pinerolo and at the Conservatory of Turin under the guidance of Laura Richaud, obtaining a two-year second level course in the concert field with 110 cum laude and special mention.
A fundamental meeting was with Enrico Pace, also at the Academy of Pinerolo, with whom he studied for several years, obtaining a Master’s degree in 2005.
That very year, he unanimously won the XVII Concurso Internacional de Piano de Ibiza in Spain. He was subsequently awarded prizes in international piano competitions
in Italy, France, Greece, Spain and Australia.
He attended Master Classes with pianists such as Alexander Lonquich, Maria Joao Pires, Massimiliano Damerini, Roberto Prosseda and Jean Bernard Pommier who chose him to perform the Concerto No. 2 by C.Saint Saens with the Monte Carlo Symphony Orchestra at the BSI Monaco Music Master. He perfected his skills for several years with Carlo Balzaretti and Arnulf Von Arnim. He has performed over the years in various European countries and prestigious institutions including: Festival Mito, Ascoli Piceno Festival, Ravello Festival, Cervo Festival, Carrara Festival, Trento Philharmonic Society, Bellini Association of Messina, Friends of Music of Palermo, Concert Society of Piacenza, Musical Evenings of Milan at the Teatro Dal Verme, Concert Society of Milan in Sala Verdi, Orchestra of Milan Classica, Unione Musicale of Turin, Teatro Mancinelli of Orvieto for Spazio Musica, Santa Barbara Music Festival in Sardinia. He has performed with the OFT Philharmonic of Turin, the Symphony Orchestra of Donetsk, the Chamber Orchestra of Milan Classica and the Orchestra Filarmonica del ‘900 Teatro Regio of Turin. The recording of the complete transcriptions of Earl Wild for piano solo for Brilliant Classics has earned him several enthusiastic reviews in magazines such as Fanfare, American Record guide, Musica, Clikmusic, Gramphone, Piano news. For the same label he has recorded the complete sonatas of Alfredo Piatti for cello and piano together with Lamberto Curtoni. He has taught at the conservatories of Pavia and Gallarate. He has held master classes for “Musica d’Estate” in Bardonecchia, and currently for Spaziomusica in Orvieto.
