Mariangela Zito, a mezzo-soprano from Basilicata, began her vocal studies at the E. R. Duni Conservatory in Matera, where she first obtained a diploma in opera singing under the old system and then a second-level master’s degree in chamber music, both with top marks and honours.
She then went on to study at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Mascagni Academy of the Teatro Goldoni.
In 2023, she made her debut as Rosa in “Silvano” and then as Zanetto in “Zanetto”, both by Mascagni, at the Mascagni Festival. She also made her debut as Lola and Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana”; as Zita and de la Ciesca in “Gianni Schicchi”; Suzuki in “Madama Butterfly” and La Frugola in “Il Tabarro” by Puccini; the role of the Princess of Belgioso in “Mameli” by Leoncavallo; she was Berta in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”; Clarina in “La Cambiale di Matrimonio”, the Princess Aunt in “Suor Angelica”, Azucena in “Il Trovatore”, Beppe the gypsy in “L’Amico Fritz”; Maddalena in G. Verdi’s “Rigoletto”.
She has performed in some of Italy’s most important theatres, such as the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, and the Teatro Petrarca in Arezzo.
She also boasts an intense concert schedule in Italy and abroad.
She is a student of the Fondazione Accademia di Musica.
