Bruno De Simone
Biography

A seasoned opera singer of the highest calibre, from whom his mentor, Sesto Bruscantini, drew his inspiration: a cultural background that extends beyond the musical score, having also studied the humanities and law. Of the seventy-three roles he has performed in the world’s leading theatres, sixteen were Rossini roles: from Monteverdi right up to the late 20th century, tackling the most varied styles. He has some thirty opera recordings to his credit, available on DVD and CD, with EMI, Decca, Sony, BMG, Arthaus, Naxos, TDK and Dynamic. For more than twenty years, at the height of his artistic career and at the invitation of his mentor, he has devoted himself to teaching, passing on his experience at various institutions and academies, including the Maggio Fiorentino, where he has been a lecturer for twelve years.
Among the awards he has received are: Tiberini d’Oro (2005 – San Lorenzo in Campo), Rossini d’Oro (2007 – Pesaro), Alfredo Catalani (2008 – Lucca), Domenico Cimarosa (2009 – Aversa, CE), Enzo Dara (2022, 1st edition – Mantua), Vocalis Lifetime Achievement Award (2024 – Naples), Maria Malibran (2025 – Altidona, Fermo).
