Study pathway

The advanced course in violin taught by Francesco Manara has a minimum duration of two years.

The course is intended to help students extend their knowledge of the repertoire of their instrument, thus giving them a solid basis on which to build a professional career, as teachers or performers.

The teacher and the student will together decide on the repertoire for the course, the student’s participation in competitions and concerts, and the scheduling of their Accademia exams. The annual study pathway includes the study of repertoire for:

  • solo performance;
  • chamber music,
  • orchestra performance.

Students have the right to one lesson per month from October/November to May/June for a total number of 8 lessons. The accompanying pianist will be present at the lessons in order to assist the teacher in exemplifying certain aspects of repertoire.

At the end of the course each student will take an exam to assess whether they can be awarded a Diploma or Master’s Diploma. Students who achieve a Master’s Diploma are then eligible to apply for a scholarship for the following academic year.

Requirements

To apply for admission candidates must be no older than 30, in possession of a Conservatorio Diploma (old system), a Level 1 or Level 2 degree or equivalent qualification from a country other than Italy. The commission reserves the right to accept any student who shows exceptional talent, even though they do not meet the above-mentioned requirements.

Applying for admission

Applications for the Academic Year 2024/25 must reach our offices by 23 May 2024. With the same requirements, the date of submission of the application is considered for choosing the students. Any applications sent after the deadline will be evaluated by the Directors of Studies.

IMPORTANT!
Candidates may express a preference regarding the Accademia teacher they would like to study with. On your enrolment form you must give at least two names of the teachers in order of preference. ATTENTION: the order of preference must be indicated in the registration form at the bottom of the page, in the “Eligibility Requirements”.
After the student has passed the entrance exam, the Directors of Studies (consisting of all the Accademia’s strings teachers) will decide on the most effective study pathway for the individual student, including the specific organization of the lessons in the Accademia.

Entrance exam

The admission exams will take place in presence on June 5th and 6th 2024. The entrance exam will consist of the performance of a programme that includes:

  • a composition by J. S. Bach;
  • a Classical Sonata or Concerto;
