Filippo Gamba studied with Renzo Bonizzato, Maria Tipo and Homero Francesch. He has performed with the Berliner Sinfoniker, SWR-Sinfonieorchester, City of Birmingham, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Staatskappelle (Weimar), Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Wladimir Aschkenazy, Simon Ratte, James Colon, Adam Fischer. He has given recitals for the most important concert societies in Italy and Europe, Paris/Théâtre des Champs Élysées, Théâtre du Châtelet, Amsterdam/Concertgebouw, Vienna/Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Munich/Herkules-Saal, Megaron/Athens and many others. He has released two monographic discs for DECCA, dedicated to Beethoven and Schumann. Winner of numerous prizes in international competitions in 2000 he won the International Piano Competition ‘Geza Anda’ as well as being invited on the jury at Beethoven/Vienna, Bremen, Busoni/Bolzano. He is an active chamber musician and has been a professor at the Musik-Akademie in Basel since 2005, as well as at the Fondazione Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo.
