Born in 1974 in Romania, Adrian Pinzaru started studying the violin at a very young age in Iaşi at the “O. Băncila ”with Calistrat Catargiu and Natalia Epure continuing his path in Bucharest at the“ G. Enescu “.
In 1993, thanks to a scholarship, he moved to Italy where, after having studied at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musical in Saluzzo, he obtained a diploma in violin and viola at the “G. Verdi ”in Turin under the guidance of Christine Anderson and Davide Zaltron.
Over the years he has attended masterclasses with with Stefan Gheoghiu, Mariana Sirbu, Dora Schwarzberg, Sadao Harada (Tokyo String Quartet), Franco Rossi (The Italian Quartet), Valentin Berlinsky (Borodin Quartet) and Milan Skampa (Smetana Quartet).
Since 2007 he has been the first violin of the Delian Quartett with which he has an intense international concert activity. He is a regular guest as a soloist and chamber musician at important venues such as:
Musikverein Wienn, Konzerthaus Wienn, Berlin Philharmonie, Berlin Konzerthaus, Unione Musicale di Torino, Festival MiTo Settembre Musica, Ludwigsburger Schloßfestspiele,
Schlezwig-Holstein Musik Festival, Musikfest Bremen, Festival Internacional de Musica de Espinho, Essen Philarmonie, etc. collaborating, in the chamber repertoire, with artists such as
Gilles Apap, Measha Brueggergosman, Mario Brunello, Gérard Caussé, José Luis Estellés, Pavel Gililov, Igor Kamenz, Benedetto Lupo, Alfredo Perl, Menahem Pressler,
Danilo Rossi, Dora Schwarzberg, Giovanni Sollima, Anatol Ugorski and actor Bruno Ganz.
He has played for various television and radio stations such as Rai, Radio France, Österreichische Rundfunk (ORF), DR (Danish Radio), Deutschland Funk, HR, SWR, WDR, BR.
He records regularly for the Oehms Classics record company, with which he released, in 2008, a CD entirely dedicated to Robert Schumann – named “Recommended CD of the Month” by Bayerische Rundfunk
and one dedicated to Haydn which received the nomination for Echo Prize 2010. In 2013 a CD dedicated to Beethoven was released.
In 2016, a CD dedicated to Schostakovich was released in co-production with Deutschland Funk and in 2018 and again in co-production with Deutschland Funk,
the complete art of the Fugue by J. S. Bach.
He is often a guest as concertmaster and solo viola at institutions such as:
Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Neuss, Gran Teatre de Liceu Barcelona, Stadt Kammerorchester Arpeggione,
Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Murcia Symphony Orchestra, Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, I Musici Estensi.
In parallel with his concert commitment, Adrian Pinzaru also carries out an intense didactic activity. In fact, he is a lecturer at the Pinerolo Academy of Music and is regularly invited
to hold masterclasses in Europe and China.
Since 2019 he has been president of the EstOvest Festival Association and Artistic Director of IMUSE.
Since 2017 he has been testimonial of the German company, world leader in the manufacture of strings for string instruments, Pirastro.
Adrian plays a violin made by G. B. Rogeri 1699.
