Daniel Streicher
Biography

Daniel Vincent Streicher began playing the piano at the age of four. He received piano lessons from Prof. Galina Iwanzowa as well as from Thomas Menrath, Stefan Lietz, and Prof. Björn Lehmann. For many years, he was a junior student at the Julius-Stern-Institut and subsequently at the Universität der Künste Berlin. He is currently studying at the Conservatoire de Paris in the class of Professor Hortense Cartier-Bresson. At the age of ten, he already performed as a soloist at the Berliner Philharmonie, playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 467. Daniel is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions. In 2014, he won first prize in his age group at the Chopin-Competition in Budapest, as well as first prize at the Bechstein-Competition in the same year (four hands together with his sister Tabea). In 2016, he received first prize at the international piano Competition Clavicologne in Aachen. He has also received further awards at the Steinway-Competition, the Hans-von-Bülow-Competition (2012 and 2015), the international piano Competition „Carl Maria von Weber“, as well as in 2024 at the international piano Competition „Concurso Rospigliosi“ and the Competition „Samson François“ in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Together with his duo partner Lewin Kneisel (principal clarinetist of the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln), he received the „WDR3 Klassikpreis“ of the city of Münster as well as first prize at the „Genzmer“-Competition in Munich. This was followed by an invitation to a concert tour in Japan. He is a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung, and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Together with his sister Tabea, he is also supported by „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin e. V.“. In 2024, he was admitted to the Académie Philippe Jarrousky as well as to the organization „Jeunes Talents“. Daniel has performed in major Berlin concert halls such as the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus. Further appearances have taken him to numerous cities across Germany as well as to the Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, and France. He has also performed at renowned festivals, including the Dresdner Musikfestspiele, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, and the Mozartfest Schwetzingen, where he performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg. In January 2022, he performed with the Junges Orchester der Freien Universität Berlin under the direction of Antoine Rebstein in the Großer Sendesaal of the RBB. At the beginning of 2023, he founded the piano quartet „Quartett Euphorie“ together with the musicians Coco Tomita (violin), Julia Wawrowska (viola), and Clara Eglhuber (cello), which made its debut in May of the same year at the Konzerthaus Berlin. In July, he performed again with Lewin Kneisel at the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer; the concert was recorded by Bayerischer Rundfunk and broadcast in August. In 2024, Quartett Euphorie received the „Premier prix absolu“ at the Internationaler Fanny-Mendelssohn-Competition, the „Prix d’honneur“ at the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb Frankreich, as well as a special prize at the „Premio Trio di Trieste“. He received important musical inspiration in masterclasses with Martin Helmchen, Eldar Nebolsin, Dmitrij Baschkirow, Cédric Tiberghien, Eberhard Feltz, and Klaus Hellwig.

He has been student of Fondazione Accademia di Musica since 2026.
