Pol Mendoza Partida
Biography

Pol Mendoza is a young Mexican-Catalan cellist born in Barcelona. He has recently been awarded the prestigious Ferrer-Salat Scholarship to pursue the four-year Bachelor Degree program at the Conservatory Liceu Foundation, studying with Professor Lluís Claret from 2023 to 2027.

Pol won the Barcelona Conservatory soloist competition and performed as a soloist with the Barcelona Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra during the 2023–24 academic year. He was selected to join the ESMUC Junior Program for the 2022–23 course, under the guidance of Professor Erica Wise. He has been a full member of the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya and the Sinfónica Joven de Galicia, and was also a member of the cello orchestra Grupcello.cat, directed by Anna Mora, where he served as principal cello and soloist in 2023.

He has participated in numerous summer festivals, performance residencies and masterclasses, including Sommermusik im Oberen Nagoldtal in Germany with Cristóforo Pestalozzi (2019), the Masters Cello Classes at Fontfroide in France with Lluís Claret and Anna Mora (2021), the International Music Course of Cervera with José Mor, the XXXVII International Music Interpretation Courses Eduardo del Pueyo with Adolfo Gutiérrez (2022), the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Lucca with Claudio Bohórquez and Paolo Bonomini (2023), and the Ticino Musica Festival with Maestro Asier Polo (2024–25 edition). In 2025 he performed at the Accademia di Musica with Enrico Dindo and took part in the Summer Festival of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Peter Bruns.

During the summer of 2023, he performed as a soloist in two concerts at the López Portillo Museum-House in Guadalajara and the Niños Cantores Auditorium at the Las Rosas Conservatory in Morelia, with pianist Bernardo Ramírez. He has also continued performing as a soloist and teaching masterclasses in Guadalajara.

Pol began playing the cello at the age of four and has been guided and supported by teachers such as Ingrid Kunstman, Mattias Weinmann, Eulalia Subirà, Anna Mora and Eulalia Nosas, with whom he obtained his Professional Degree at the Barcelona Music Conservatory. From an early age, he has been noted for his cheerful and energetic personality, always seeking to express sensitivity through sound quality. He plays a contemporary cello made by Nicholas Gilles.

He has been a student of the Fondazione Accademia di Musica since 2025.
