Luigi Visco
Biography

Born in Naples in 2000, he graduated at the age of 19 from the Giuseppe Martucci Conservatory in Salerno with full marks and honors.

Subsequently, he began to improve himself by attending, from 2020 to 2023, the Advanced Training Courses of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia: in Cello, taught by Giovanni Sollima, and in Chamber Music, taught by Ivan Rabaglia.

He perfected himself with Antonio Meneses and at the Stauffer Academy, where he obtained the Stauffer Artist Diploma, from 2022 to 2024, and at the Chigiana Academy, where he also perfected himself with David Geringas.

In addition, in 2024 he graduated with hords in the High Improvement Course in Chamber Music held by the Parma Trio at the ‘Arrigo Boito’ Conservatory in Parma.

Winner, in the field of both solo and chamber music, of several national and international competitions, for his musical growth were very important the teachings and advice of cellists such as Misha Maisky, Sol Gabetta, Mario Brunello, Enrico Dindo, Thomas Demenga, Brannon Cho, Laszlo Fenyo, Pieter Wispelwey, Melissa Phelps, Giovanni Gnocchi, Enrico Bronzi, Gabriele Geminiani, and musicians such as Enrico Pace, Danusha Waskiewicz, Roberto Gonzàlez, Pierpaolo Maurizzi, Alberto Miodini, Andrea Lucchesini, William Naborè, Michele Campanella, Bruno Canino, Carlo Fabiano, Luca Ranieri, Simonide Braconi, Cibrián Sierra-Vázquez, David Schulteiss, Yves Savary.

He was eligible in 2022 for the selections of the EUYO – European Union Youth Orchestra, and in 2023 he was qualified as First Cello for the auditions of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded and directed by Mo Riccardo Muti.

As the First Cello of the aforementioned orchestra, he played under the direction of Mo Riccardo Muti at the ‘Goldener Saal’ of the Musikverein in Vienna, the ‘Dante Alighieri’ Theater and the ‘Pala de André’ in Ravenna, the Municipal Theater of Piacenza, the ‘Donizetti’ Theater in Bergamo, the ‘Pergolesi’ Theater in Jesi, the Patriarchal Basilica of Aquileia, the ‘Ventidio Basso’ Theater of Ascoli Piceno, the ‘Giglio ‘Giacomo Puccini’ Theater in Lucca, the ‘Verdi’ Theater in Pisa, the ‘Carlo Goldoni’ Theater in Livorno, the “Giuseppe Verdi” Theater in Busseto, the “Ebe Stigliani” Theater in Imola.

With the orchestra’s cello quartet, in September 2025 they went on a tour of the United States of America, performing at the Logan Center for the Arts in Chicago, The Ebell in Los Angeles, and at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York.

Since 2023 he has been collaborating permanently in duo with pianist Alessandro Simoni.

In 2024 he is a founding member of the Trio Liszt, together with pianist Christian De Luca and violinist Elia Chiesa, with whom he performs regularly.

He collaborated with the Orchestra of the Opera House of Rome, with the Bottesini Orchestra, with ‘LaFil – Filarmonica di Milano’, with the ‘Agon Ensemble’, with the OGI – Italian Youth Orchestra, with the Ensemble Novecento and with the ‘Juni Orchestra’ of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, under the direction of artists such as Giovanni Sollima, Mario Brunello, James Conlon, Ezio Bosso, Jérémie Rohrer, Pasquale Corrado, Enrico Fagone, Hossein Pishkar, Henry Kennedy, Andrea Molino and with soloists such as Anna Tifu, Daniel Ottensamer, Simon Zhu, Giuseppe Gibboni, playing at halls such as the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the San Carlo Theater, the Quirinale, the Festival of the Two Worlds of Spoleto, the Chigiana Academy, the Roman Philharmonic Academy.

He plays a 1992 Riccardo Bergonzi cello.

He is student of Fondazione Accademia di Musica since 2025.
