Gabriele Candiloro
Biography

He began studying the cello in 2011. He continued his education at the “G. Martucci” Conservatory of Salerno, where in 2024 he completed the five-year academic program in Cello with the highest marks and honors (cum laude). In 2025, he was admitted to the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory in Cremona for a Master’s degree in Chamber Music, in the class of Maestro Silvia Chiesa.

Over the years, he has studied with internationally renowned teachers such as Massimo Polidori, Diego Romano, Marcello Rosa, Pietro Nappi, Ulrike Hofmann and Michele Chiapperino. In 2017, he was awarded First Prize at the International Competition “Sant’Alfonso Maria de Liguori.” In 2020, he passed the auditions for both the Italian Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of Rome, and in 2025 he successfully auditioned for the Toscanini Academy in Parma, where he is currently a student. He plays a Luca Ruggiero cello, Stradivari Piatti model (2017).

His orchestral career includes collaborations with prestigious ensembles in Italy, such as the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra, the Molise Symphony Orchestra, the Campania Philharmonic Orchestra and the Giuseppe Verdi Philharmonic Orchestra of Salerno. With these institutions he has served both as tutti cellist, section leader and principal cello, performing in major symphonic, operatic and concert productions, including Il barbiere di Siviglia, La vedova allegra, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, New Year’s concerts at the Ravello Festival and Teatro Verdi in Salerno, as well as Puccini opera galas and collaborations with soloists such as Ilya Grubert and Gennaro Cardaropoli.

Alongside this orchestral activity, he has also gained significant experience in chamber music, performing in various ensembles including trios, quartets, duos, quintets and larger groups, exploring a wide repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary works.

In addition, he has gained teaching experience as a cello teacher in secondary schools, such as “Fresa-Pascoli” in Nocera Superiore, with a fixed-term appointment. He has also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists, including Enrico Dindo (2025, Collegium Philarmonicum in Naples), and attended intensive training courses such as Villa Pennisi in Musica (2024).

Through this broad range of experiences, he stands out as a versatile young cellist, combining a solid academic foundation with extensive orchestral and chamber music performance, as well as a continuous pursuit of artistic growth.

He is student of Fondazione Accademia di Musica since 2025.
