Sonia Candellone was born in 1998 in the province of Vercelli. She began playing piano at the age of 10 and cello at 14. In 2020 she graduated with full marks at the “Cantelli” conservatory of Novara, under the guidance of Luca Schieppati, with whom she continues her studies at the “Verdi” conservatory of Milan.
She has attended masterclasses and advanced courses with recognized musicians, such as Irene Veneziano, Simone Pedroni, Davide Cabassi, Olivier Cazal and Mariangela Vacatello. She is also attending the “Call for young performers” course with Maria Grazia Bellocchio, organized by Divertimento Ensemble and dedicated to the contemporary piano repertoire, and the advanced course in contemporary piano music with Emanuele Arciuli at the Pinerolo Academy of Music.
She won recognition both as a solo pianist and in the chamber music category in various national competitions, winning, among others, the absolute first prize at Serravalle Sesia, Omegna, Valstrona and Novara. Moreover, in the 2020 edition of the “Premio del Conservatorio” of Milan, she was among the three best pianists of the institute.
She has been guest of important musical reviews and events, including Spazio Fazioli, “Amici del Loggione della Scala di Milano”, Spazio Teatro 89 in Milan, “Pianocity” Milan, the Viotti Festival in Vercelli, the BAClassica festival in Busto Arsizio, the “contemporary music week” at the “Cantelli” conservatory of Novara, Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea (SIMC), the Blue Monk Festival in Borgomanero, the Classical Music Festival in Cellio, Casa Verdi in Milan and for Società del Quartetto of Milan.
Her great passion for chamber music has led her to form various chamber ensembles and to collaborate with some musical institutes as an accompanist pianist.
Artistically, she expresses a particular attitude for the execution of the most recent classical repertoire, particularly from the twentieth century to contemporary works.
Along with recital activities, she enthusiastically dedicates her time teaching at “Four Music School” in Borgomanero and for Associazione Musicale “G. Rossini” in Busto Arsizio.
