Rosa Ferrigno

Rosa Ferrigno, born in Paola in 1999, began studying the cello at a very young age under M° Fausto Castiglione. She continued her studies at the Conservatorio ‘S. Giacomantonio’ in Cosenza
and at 17 years of age she graduated with top marks cum laude and special mention under the guidance of M° Valeria Carnicelli. At the same time, at the age of 14, she brilliantly obtained the
Suzuki diploma. She attended masterclasses in cello with M. Polidori, L. Piovano, T. Strahl, G. Déri, U. Hofmann, E. Bronzi, E. Dindo, M.Macrì, T.Tetzlaff and on the baroque repertoire M.Ceccato, A.Beyer.
She has won numerous competitions including abs.1st prize and special prize Vigliaturo Acri, abs.1st prize competition “D. Cipolla” Cetraro, 1st prize AMA Calabria cat. soloists, 1st prize AMA Calabria cat. chamber music, 2nd prize cat. soloists European Competition Jacopo Napoli.
In 2017 she ranked 1st in the selection for cellos in the Orchestra Nazionale of Conservatori Italiani with which she participated as section leader in the 2017 Christmas concert broadcast live
by RAI from the Senate of the Republic under the direction of A. Cadario and in the closing evening at the Teatro Argentina of the 2017 National Arts Prize. With the same orchestra under the baton of Alexander Lonquich she performed in numerous concerts in prestigious theatres and important festivals, including the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and the Ravello Festival. With the Orchestra Filarmonica of Benevento, she also performed under the direction of Maestros Carlo Rizzari, Ezio Bosso, Antonio Pappano and Nicola Piovani. She has collaborated with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, the Orchestra of Teatro Rendano in Cosenza, the ‘Roma Tre Orchestra’ and has been a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala Orchestra’s. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, playing in important theatres including Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, Berlin Konzerthaus, with whom she also performed as section leader under the baton of Alexander Lonquich, Barbanas Kelemen and Sesto Quatrini. In addition, in August 2022, she participated with the aforementioned orchestra, in the role of first part, in the Young Euro Classic Festival held at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, where ‘Klezmer Rhapsodie’ by Massimiliano Matesic was premiered under the baton of M° Daniele Giorgi. Since its foundation in 2022, she has collaborated permanently with the new Calabrian ICO, Orchestra Sinfonica Brutia.
She attended the orchestral training course held at the Accademia di Pinerolo in collaboration with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the orchestral training course at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale in Saluzzo in collaboration with the Filarmonica Teatro Regio Torino (teachers: Amedeo Cicchese, Relja Lukic).
In July 2022, she brilliantly obtained the Diploma of the Postgrad Course in Chamber Music with M° Carlo Fabiano at Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, performing in the Sala Sinopoli of the Auditorium Parco della Musica for the final diploma concert.
She continues to specialise with M° Luigi Piovano.
