Francesco Iapaolo
Biography

Francesco Iapaolo, born in 1998, graduated from the Conservatory “L. Perosi” of Campobasso with honors and honorable mention under the guidance of Giorgia Tomassi and at the Piano Academy of Imola with Igor Roma. He began studying piano with Carlo Grante, giving his first recital at the age of 12. Immediately revealing a precocious talent, when he was just twelve years old he performed the “Variations on the name Abegg” by R. Schumann and some of the “Études d’exécution trascendante” by F. Liszt, other significant pieces by Schumann, by Chopin and the Sonata op. 14
by Prokofiev. He participates in several concert activities and in national and international competitions, winning 1st prize in the international competition “Grand Prize Virtuoso” in Salzburg and Barcelona, 1st prize in the international piano competition in Ischia (NA), 1st prize at the international music competition of Atri (TE), being finalist in the Sergio Cafaro and Città di Albenga piano prize, etc. In 2014 he won a scholarship that allowed him to attend Chetham’s School Of Music in Manchester, under the guidance of Artur Pizarro and Leslie Howard,
performing music by Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Prokofiev at the Carol Nash Recital Hall and the Baronial Hall and following the courses of prestigious pianists such as Dina Parakhina, Boris Berman, Murray McLachlan, Noriko Ogawa etc. Meanwhile he takes part in seminars and masterclasses of piano improvement (Righini, Laneri, Vacatello, Mastroprimiano, Ammara, Taverna, Howard, Pizarro, Di Bella, Gulyak, Rivera). He has performed in prestigious halls in Italy and Europe, such as the Solitar at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Petit Palau de la Musica Catalana and the Victoria Music Center in Barcelona, the Maschio Angioino in Naples, Sala Baldini for the Festival delle Nazioni and the Museum of Musical Instruments in Rome, Sale Apollinee of “La Fenice” theater in Venice, in Tivoli (Villa d’Este), Sala Eutherpe in Leòn and Charlton House in Greenwich and in numerous other Italian cities for important piano festivals (Martina Franca, San Donà di Piave, Livorno etc.). In 2016 and 2018 he attended advanced piano courses at the Santa Cecilia Foundation in Portogruaro under the guidance of Alessandro Taverna. He played with the Ergo Cantemus Academy Orchestra of Tivoli performing Beethoven third piano concerto. In
2023 he taught piano at the Avellino Conservatory. He recently began studying composition with Piero Niro. Furthermore, he enriched his preparation by obtaining a master’s degree with honors in Political Sciences and European Institutions at the University of Molise.
