Francesca Giglio
Biography

Francesca Giglio graduated in cello at the age of nineteen, with full marks and honors at the “Giuseppe Martucci” Conservatory of Music in Salerno. She studied with Gianluca Giganti and perfected her studies with Giovanni Gnocchi, Enrico Dindo, Asier Polo, Gabriele Geminiani, Ulrike Hofmann, Denis Shapovalov, Frank Immo Zichner (chamber music).

At the age of 17, for two years, she joined the Youth Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, as the principal cellist, under the direction of conductor Aldo Ceccato.

Later on, she attended the high-level specialization course with Bruno Delepelaire at the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole. At the same time she attended two years of advanced training at the Teatro alla Scala Academy in Milan, under the conducting of Zubin Mehta, Ivan Fischer, David Coleman, Manfred Honeck, Vladimir Fedoseev, Michele Mariotti. She collaborated with Tokyo Ballet, Woody Allen, Roberto Bolle, Bolshoi Ballet and with well-known soloists such as Plàcido Domingo, Maurizio Pollini, Francesco Manara, Simonide Braconi, Alessandro Carbonare. During the two-year period she perfected the repertoire of opera-symphonic with Massimo Polidori, Sandro Laffranchini and Alfredo Persichilli.

She participated in numerous tours (USA, China, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Algeria, Germany, Andalusia).

She performs as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and orchestra, participating in numerous events as Ravello Festival, Al Bustan Festival, Lerici Music Festival, Piedicavallo Festival, Salerno Chamber Music Festival, Linea D’Ombra, Youth Culture Festival etc.

Since 2020 she is a component of the “Trio Hermes” with which she has won numerous first prizes in prestigious competitions, she has attended an advanced chamber music ensemble course at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Bruno Giuranna, she is about to complete the Master Degree at the “A. Boito” Conservatory in Parma under the guidance of Pierpaolo Maurizzi and the “Trio di Parma” (Alberto Miodini, Ivan Rabaglia, Enrico Bronzi) and with which she attends a Advanced Chamber Music Course at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

She collaborates with the Quintet of the bandoneonist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and with the Verdi Theater Orchestra of Salerno.

She currently attends the Advanced Music Course of Cello with Patrick Demenga at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo.
