Anna Caterina Binda
Biography

Born in Varese (Italy) in 2004, she begins to study the piano at age five under the direction of Maestro Paola Del Negro at the Accademia Musicale Varesina. 

She has won more than 30 first prizes in national and international competitions, such as the International Piano Competition “Città di Caraglio”, the International Musical Performance Competition “Città di Asti”, the International Musical Performance Competition “Città di Treviso”, the National Musical Performance Competition “Città di Piove di Sacco”, the European Music Competition in Moncalieri, the International Music Competition “Premio Vittoria Caffa Righetti” in Cortemilia, the National Competition “Città di Oleggio”, the National Piano Competition J. S. Bach “Città di Sestri Levante”, the International Piano Competition Camillo Togni in Gussago, the International Music Competition “Città di Pesaro”, the International Piano Competition “Città di Albenga” and the International Musical Performance Competition “Città di San Donà di Piave”, where she has received the audience award and has been unanimously proclaimed absolute winner by the jury. 

She has also won the National Piano Competition “Villa Oliva” in Cassano Magnago where she has been proclaimed Absolute winner of the competition having obtained the highest score. 

Moreover, she has won the National Piano Competition “Nuova Coppa Pianisti” in Osimo, the Piano and Chamber Music Competition “Coop premia la musica” – Prize Antonio Bertolini, the National Competition “Giovani Musicisti” Città di Viterbo, the Musical Performance Competition “Città di Magliano Sabina”, the International Competition for Young Musicians “Diapason d’Oro” in Pordenone, the International Competition “Talenti in Canavese”, the National Piano Competition “La Palma d’Oro” in San Benedetto del Tronto, the International Piano Competition “Andrea Baldi” in Bologna, the International Competition “Giovani Talenti” in S. Bartolomeo al Mare and the International Competition “Musica in Langa” in Castiglione Falletto. 

In 2014 she gained a scholarship from Rotary Club Varese Verbano having won the competition “La Musica del Lago” and won the second prize at the César Franck International Piano Competition in Brussels. 

Since 2013 till 2016 she attended the Junior Masterclass held by Maestro Roberto Plano at the Accademia Musicale Varesina. 

She performed at the Santuccio Theatre in Varese, at the Auditorium ClubHouse of the Joint Research Center of Ispra, for the festival Concerti d’Autunno in Sestri Levante, during the Piano Young Talents Festival in San Donà di Piave, for the Festival “Malpensa Flying Notes – Fazioli Pianoforti”, in the Fazioli showroom in Milan and in many other events organised by Soroptimist International and the Accademia Musicale Varesina, for the event “Bande in concerto” promoted by Fondazione Ascoli, for the Lions Club, for the VaresEstense Festival – Young Talents in Music and during the art exhibition “Ruggine e Salici”. 

In April 2017 she made her debut recital in the “Rassegna Giovani Talenti alla Ribalta” by ENDAS Varese. 

In May 2017 she performed a concert at the S. Marta Church in Agliè. 

In summer 2017 she took part to the Masterclass by Maestro Plano during the International Summer Music Festival in Vilnius (Lithuania) performing at the Town Hall and at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design. She also followed the International Music Masterclasses in Portogruaro by Maestro Plano and won the scholarship granted by the Fondazione S. Cecilia. She performed for the Metropolitan Festival of Portogruaro at Villa Migotto in S. Stino di Livenza. 

In October 2017 she won the First Prize in the Great Composers Competition Best Liszt Performance. 

She has also won a scholarship at the Young Musicians Competition in Casatenovo and a prize concert offered by the association Sovico in Musica following her participation to the masterclass by Maestro Plano. 

She attended the masterclasses by Maestro Plano in Rovinj (Croatia) and has won a scholarship promoted by Foundation Dino Škrapić. 

In September 2018 she performed in Naples at the Museo del Tessile e dell’Abbigliamento Elena Aldobrandini for the contest Maggio del Pianoforte. 

In January 2019 she won the First Prize at the Young Livorno Piano Competition – Prize Enrico Galletta and the following month she was featured in a long interview in the Italian classical music magazine Amadeus. 

In June 2019 she performed with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza playing Mozart Piano Concerto K595 conducted by Matteo Pais. 

In July 2019 she performed at the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan during the Lions Clubs International Convention. 

In October 2019 she won the Second Prize (First prize not assigned) at the Riga International Competition for Young Pianists in Riga (Latvia) and the special prize for the best performance of the contemporary piece. 

In November 2019 her CD dedicated to the French composer Cécile Chaminade was released by Movimento Classical label. 

In September 2020 she won the Fifth Prize at the Krystian Tkaczewski International Online Piano Competition in Busko-Zdrój (Poland) and received an honorable mention at the Sergio Fiorentino International Online Piano Competition.

In December 2020 she won the Second Prize at the Fujairah International Piano Competition (United Arab Emirates). 

In September 2021 she gives a recital in San Bartolomeo Val Cavargna for the International Music Festival “Suoni della Val Cavargna”, while in November of the same year she gains the scholarship of the Association Amici di Federico Allegro in Varese (Italy). 

In February 2022 she gives a recital in the auditorium of Petit Palais in Paris for the Festival Jeunes Talents. 

She is continuing her studies under the guidance of Maestro Paola Del Negro (professor at The Rivers School Conservatory in Boston and at the Music Conservatory of Westchester in New York, USA) and Maestro Roberto Plano (professor at the Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, USA), with whom she is also attending the piano course at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo (Italy).
