My name is Alessio Mannelli and I was born in Livorno on December 20, 1995. My love for the world of music began at the age of 9 when, after having passed the audition, I joined the youth and children choir of Goldoni Theater in Livorno. During these years, I have often played leading roles, such as “Joseph” in the musical Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat by A. L. Webber, “Bottom” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with text by Shakespeare and music by B. Britten or “Clementino” in Il Piccolo Spazzacamino also by Britten (production also brought to the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino). Also I have participated in important Opera productions as a chorister (for example in Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, Carmen, Turandot, Tosca), soloist (for example in Tosca with the role of “shepherd” or in the reduction of Mozart’s Magic Flute with directed by L. Kemp with the role of “III dama” and “Monostatos”) and actor (for example in Boheme). I also participated in concerts with internationally renowned artists such as Andrea Bocelli in 2008 and 2015 at the Teatro del Silenzio, M° Zubin Mehta and Elisa.
At the age of 11, I started the violin course at the “Pietro Mascagni” Higher Institute of Musical Studies in Livorno into the class of prof. Renata Sfriso. During the years of studying the violin technique and the solo repertoire, I carried out an intense orchestral training activity with the orchestra of the Institute, where I assumed the role of Concertmaster for a few years. In 2017 I graduated with a final evaluation of 9.50/10. After this long path, in 2017 I enrolled in the Master course with prof. Chiara Morandi (leader of the second violins and soloist of the Tuscan Regional Orchestra). I finished the Master course in March 2021 with a final evaluation of 110/110 and honor.
About competition, in April 2018, with the ensemble Estrorchestra, we won the first prize in the Ensemble section of the “Riviera Etrusca” competition and in May 2019, together with 2 of my conservatory colleagues, we won the Chamber Music scholarship reserved for all the students of the Conservatory of Livorno.
From August to December 2019 I left my hometown for an international Erasmus project at the Trondheim conservatory in Norway with the M ° Anna Gebert (Concertmaster of the Trondheim Symphonic Orchestra and international soloist). During this experience, which was very important from both a musical and a human point of view, I was able to participate in various Masterclasses, for example with the components of the “Quartetto Modigliani” or with the violinist Marianne Thorsen, and I hold several chamber concerts.
In December 2019 I was selected to participate in the orchestral training course of the Youth Nordic-German Orchestra of Berlin. During this occasion, I had the pleasure to collaborate with M ° Leon Spierer (Concertmaster of Berliner Philarmoniker with M ° Karajan) and M ° Hande Kunde (violinist of the Berliner Philarmoniker) and, at the end of the course, we palyed two concerts at the “Berliner Philarmonie”.
During my studies I also participated at several masterclasses, for example with M ° Carlo Costalbano (teacher of postural technique for musicians), with M ° Steimberg (teacher at the Riga Conservatory), with the members of the Trio Kanon (at the Perosi Academy), with M ° Chiara Morandi (during the Entroterre di Bertinoro festival) and with Modigliani Quartett (in Trondheim conservatory).
The professional activity that I have carried out in the orchestra is very wide. From 2019 to 2021 I was a full member of the Italian Youth Orchestra; now I usually play in various productions of the Puccini Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Torre del Lago Festival, with the Orchestra of the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, with the Estrorchestra conducted by Chiara Morandi also as leader and soloist, with the ensemble I Bei Legami as violinist, leader and soloist.
To conclude, during the Academic Years 20/21, 21/22 and 22/23 I have teached violin, music theaory and orchestra in some secondary schools in Tuscany.
