Both in the Quartet and as soloist, he has performed throughout the world in most leading concert halls and festivals promoting the most challenging new music and has given world premieres of hundred’s of works.
His name is synonymous with the highest level of quality and dedication in the performance of new music.
The composers he has worked with reads like a who’s who of 20th and 21st Century music, as well as hundreds of lesser names of younger composers whom he has performed.
Many composers have written him solo works or concertos and these include Cage, Dillon, Ferneyhough, Francesconi, Harvey, Hosokawa, Kurtag, Paredes, Pauset, Reynolds, Sciarrino and Xenakis.
He has appeared with many distinguished orchestras and ensembles and has recorded more than 230 CD releases both with the Quartet and as soloist.
As well as receiving many awards with the Quartet, notable the Ernst von Siemen’s Music Prize in 1999, he personally received the Academy Charles Cros for lifetime achievement as a violinist in 2018.
